A homeowner in Dorset contacted Ace Energy to replace their ageing oil boiler, which had become unreliable and was no longer meeting the heating demands of their period property. At the same time, they wanted to upgrade from a vented to an unvented hot water cylinder — taking the opportunity to improve both heating efficiency and hot water performance in a single visit.

After an initial site survey and detailed discussion with the customer about the property’s layout and heat requirements, our engineers concluded that oil heating remained the most practical and cost-effective solution for this rural Dorset home. Not all properties are suited to mains gas, and for those that aren’t, a modern condensing oil boiler can deliver excellent efficiency.
We specified and supplied a Grant Vortex Pro External — one of the most reliable and widely installed oil boilers in the UK, well suited to the external installation position this property required. This was paired with a new 250-litre unvented cylinder, replacing the existing vented system and providing mains-pressure hot water throughout the home.
Our OFTEC-registered engineers managed the full installation:
- Decommissioned and safely removed the old boiler and cylinder
- Re-piped the heating system to serve the new cylinder position and connect to the external Grant unit
- Commissioned the complete system and carried out all required safety checks
- Provided the customer with a full handover pack covering system operation, controls, and servicing requirements
The result was a reliable, efficient oil heating system installed to the highest standards — with minimum disruption to the household.
