Heat Pumps
Heat Pumps absorb heat from the environment – the air or the ground – and transfer that heat to the water circulating through your home’s central heating system and hot water cylinder. This makes them an environmentally friendly energy source.
Heat Pumps are well suited to ‘off the grid’ properties and can be fitted to new builds or installed as part of a refurbishment project. The better insulated and draught proofed your home, the more efficiently the system operates; saving you money and reducing your carbon emissions further.
Ace Energy offer two types of heat pump:
- Air Source: This absorbs heat from the air. Heat is present in the air to temperatures as low as -25°C, so even on coldest UK days your home is kept warm. Air Source Heat Pumps require a unit to be installed outside your home on a 2m x 2m area.
- Ground Source: This absorbs heat from the earth. Heat can be up to 10°C just 2m below the ground even in winter. Ground Source Heat Pumps require coils to be laid either vertically or horizontally into the ground and a fridge sized unit installed inside your home.
A Heat Pump runs the water in your central heating at a lower temperature than a traditional heating system. This means Heat Pumps usually run for longer periods during the day. It also means they are extremely well suited to underfloor heating or up sized radiators installations.
Heat Pumps are included in a range of renewable technologies that the Government offer a Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI); and as accredited MCS installers Ace Energy are the perfect partner to help you make the most of your Heat Pump.
Benefits
-
Lower Fuel Bills
Heat Pumps offer central heating which is cheaper to run than traditional systems, and they do not require gas connections or inconvenient fuel deliveries.
-
Greater Safety
Heat Pumps deliver your heating whilst reducing the danger to users, as Heat Pumps do not use flammable or asphyxiating fuels at the point of heating.
-
Eco-friendly
Heat Pumps have a positive impact on your carbon footprint. Although they require some electric to run this is less than is used by traditional boilers. To encourage renewable systems, the Government offers RHI payments for 7 years; our qualified team are on hand to guide you through the process.
-
Low Maintenance
Heat Pumps are a reliable heat source due to less moving parts than traditional combustion systems. A Heat Pumps requires servicing once a year to maintain its efficiency, extend its useful life and uphold your manufacturer’s warranty. Ace Energy offer excellent servicing packages for more information please click here.
Requirements
-
Up to Date EPC
In order to advise you on the best system for your home our team will need to review an up to date Energy Performance Certificate. Newly purchased homes should carry one but if not, or you have an older property, an EPC can be carried out by an accredited domestic energy assessor.
-
Measurements
From measurements or floorplans, our team calculate the heat loss of your house. This is the energy lost through windows, doors, floors etc that your Pump will need to replace in order to maintain the warmth inside. This also ensures we offer you the correct size Pump and heat emitters.
