This is sometimes called load shifting. Most energy tariffs charge more for electricity at certain times of day, usually early morning and early evening when demand is highest. A standalone battery charges up overnight when electricity is cheapest, then your home draws from the battery instead of the grid during those expensive peak hours.

You don’t need to change how you use electricity day to day. The battery does the work in the background, charging when rates are low and discharging when rates are high. If you’re on a time-of-use tariff such as Economy 7 or one of the newer smart tariffs, the savings can be significant, and the system pays for a portion of itself through reduced bills alone.

If a power cut hits, a battery with the right setup can also keep key circuits running, which is worth bearing in mind if you live somewhere rural where outages tend to last longer.

Standalone battery storage

Installed on its own, with no solar panels required. Charges from the grid on a cheap tariff and discharges during peak hours. The most straightforward option if you want to cut your bills without taking on a full solar installation.

Retrofit battery storage

If you already have solar panels, we can add a battery to your existing system so you’re storing and using more of your own generated electricity instead of exporting it.
